In this section of the website, candidates and teachers will find additional information about the TEG examinations, for example, the allocation of marks in the four sections of the examination and guidelines on the number of hours of study required to reach the examination standard. There are also guidelines for candidates with regard to applying for the examinations and details regarding procedure on the day of the examination itself.

In this section of the website also, there is some helpful advice for teachers with learners in their class who wish to apply for the examinations. For example, advice is given on the kind of classroom activities and methodology appropriate as a preparation for the examinations.

For the benefit of employers, an outline is given of the standard of Irish one can expect from learners who have been successful in gaining a TEG certificate at a particular level.

TEG Examination Reports (Bonnleibhéal 1 – Meánleibhéal 2) are now available.

These reports contain a description of every aspect of the exams since their inception in 2005/6. Some of the most common exam mistakes are described and recommendations and advice for applicants and teachers are included.
