TEG Partial Certification available from Autumn 2012!

The Language Centre at NUI Maynooth is pleased to announce that partial certification will be offered to Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge candidates who wish to have only their oral Irish skills assessed and certified.

Candidates seeking an Irish language qualification will now have two options:

    1. The entire TEG exam (Oral, Reading, Writing, Listening) can be taken in April/May and full certification will be granted, in keeping with the current system

    2. The oral exam can be taken as a stand-alone assessment in April/May or at other times of the year and partial certification will be granted

The Language Centre will be happy to organise oral exams for groups at other times of the year in centres throughout the country.

    Teaching Council recognition for TEG

The Department of Education and Skills has accepted Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge Meánleibhéal 2 (B2) as meeting the Irish language entry requirement for primary education programmes.

This is a great opportunity for people who would like to enter the teaching profession but who do not have the necessary Irish language qualifications (e.g. Leaving Certificate Higher Level Irish) for the colleges of education. Unlike the Leaving Certificate Higher Level Irish syllabus and examination, the TEG B2 syllabus and exam are designed with the adult learner in mind which greatly enhances the learning experience.
